Juniors (Entering 2nd & 3rd Grade)
10-12 campers per group | 3:1 supervision ratio
Full of spirit and camaraderie, Juniors “rock” at Deer Mountain. They’ll tell you themselves! Our program supports their natural energy, enthusiasm, and growing independence, balanced by nurturing support and supervision.
Junior Club, our co-ed elective program, is the cutting-edge, popular cornerstone of their activity schedule. Twice a day, for two to three consecutive days, campers select an activity of their choice to focus on. Our entire curriculum is up for grabs, along with special activity options like mad science, world cup soccer, pastel drawing, fencing, sweet and savory bread baking, Broadway dance, knitting, to name a few. Juniors explore activities they like in-depth to strengthen their interests, embrace independence—and develop lasting confidence in their skills.
Each day, Juniors participate in two swim periods (instructional and recreational), as well as team sports. Weekly, they experience tennis, multiple individual sports, outdoor adventure activities, and special events. Junior girls’ schedules include a fine art activity daily, and a performing arts activity weekly; boys’ schedules have select fine arts. Horseback Riding is an optional, off-site weekly offering.
Junior Late Night is one of our most popular camp experiences. The entire division gets to continue enjoying camp—and the camaraderie of being a Junior—after camp hours as they participate in a custom designed slate of special event activities.
Two counselors oversee gender-specific groups of 10-12 campers each. Division Leaders are there to support campers and counselors, as well as communicate with parents throughout the summer. Activity Specialists are professional experts who enrich camper experiences and help them discover lifelong passions.
